Hello my names is Jake Ranson, I am a Secondary Education student with an emphasis in history. I was originally a student at the University of Northern Colorado, but decided that the town of Greeley was not the place for me. So I decided to try Metro State College of Denver and to my surprise it was a great fit. I love the city life but i also enjoy the wonderful mountain air of the Rocky Mountains. I have lived in Colorado my whole life and hope someday to leave Colorado and start some new adventures. Teaching is an important aspect in the development of our great nation. I want to believe that I am able to change peoples lives. Teaching history is a joy of mine, but the real joy is seeing these young people develop into mature adults. The education system in the United States needs a major overhaul and hope someday to be apart of that change. Being a teacher has a lot of influence on young people. From personal experience my seventh and eight grade history teacher influenced my decision to be a teacher. This portfolio is mainly for EDT 3010, but it is a great tool to know how to use when teaching becomes a daily experience.
